SAMBA, Jan 16: A villager was crushed to death by a speeding truck, near SIDCO complex on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway here today.
The mishap took place at around 6.30 pm when 55-year-old Punjab Dass, son of Bhuri Ram, resident of Shah Balod village in district Samba, was crossing the road. A truck bearing registration No. PB08AZ/9173 which was on way towards Kathua from Jammu, hit the villager and ran over him. He was crushed to death on the spot. While the driver escaped from the spot, the police seized the vehicle. The body of the victim was shifted to District hospital, Samba by police.
