Man, daughters arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, July 8: Bus Stand Police today arrested a man and his two daughters along with large quantity of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Bus Stand laid a naka and intercepted a man along with two daughters.
During checking, police recovered around 22 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the intercepted persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Kala Chechi of District Reasi and his two daughters namely Tahira Banoo and Shanaz Banoo.
The accused persons were hardcore drug smugglers, who brought this poppy straw from Kashmir and tried to get the local youth involved into drugs consumption. The arrested persons were also supplying drugs among the youth. With their arrest, police saved the youth from becoming drugs addict.
A case under FIR Number 46/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bus Stand and investigation started to ascertain the exact source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Police team led by SHO Bus Stand Inspector Deepankar Singh made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO City Sharad Kalu, SP City Mohita Sharma and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli.
