RAMBAN, Feb 22: Family members of a Srinagar based man who was allegedly killed in a road accident in Digdool area of Ramban on December 30, 2024, here today staged a protest demonstration demanding a thorough investigation to unmask the causes of death of their loved one.
A group of family members, relatives and friends of the deceased hailing from Srinagar reached Ramban and staged protest claiming a planned murder and not accident as the reason of the death.
The protesters were carrying placards, urging Police authorities to probe the matter on fast-track basis and deliver the justice.
The deceased Umar Yaseen Shah, 24, son of Mohammad Yaseen Shah, resident of Railway Colony, Nowgam, Srinagar, went missing on December 22 while travelling in his black Mahindra Thar, Jeep bearing registration number JK01AN-9990.
His body was spotted by some shepherds in a gorge in Digdool area of Ramban on December 30 and following the information, the body was shifted and handed over to the legal heirs next day after conducting post mortem at District Hospital Ramban and after completing other legal formalities by the Police.
The family members were demanding that police should constitute a Special Investigation Team and speed up the investigation to probe the case.
They sought the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary and SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh in this regard.
They said if need arise, they would move to New Delhi to get justice.
Meanwhile, SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh said the investigation into the case was in progress.
