Man dies as live cable falls

  MENDAR, June 22:   The people held protest and blocked Mandi-Loran road for over six  hours after a villager was electrocuted when  a live cable fell on him today.
Reports  said the incident  took place at around 7 am. 40-year-old Mohd Maroof, son of Jalal Din, resident of Lohel Bela, died after a live LT wire suddenly  got broken  and fell on him. The poor villager, a father of 5 minor children was rushed to Mandi Hospital where he was declared as dead. The irate public then came out on the road and blocked it by raising barricades at around 8 am. They started protest against PDD and local administration.  Naib Tehsildar Mandi and AEE concerned were allegedly manhandled by the agitated public when they tried to pacify them.  Road remained blocked for over six hours. The people were demanding  action against PDD staff and compensation for the victim’s family. Later with the intervention of senior officers the matter was resolved.
