Man dies of asphyxia

JAMMU, Dec 28: A man died due to alleged asphyxia in his rented accommodation near Dogra Hall, here today.
According to a police spokesperson, Gourdan Nayak son of Gopi Nayak, a resident of Orissa was living in a rented accommodation near Dogra Hall falling under the jurisdiction of police station Pacca Danga.
Last night, he went to sleep in his room as usual. In the morning, when he did not open the door of his room till late morning, the land lord informed the police, which reached the spot and broke open the door. On opening the door, Gourdan Nayak was found unconscious and a firepot (angithi) was found burning in his room.
The police suspected that the man died due to asphyxiation, as the door and the windows of the room were closed.
The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for post mortem and a case in this regard has been registered at concerned police station.
