JAMMU, Feb 21: An unidentified man died after setting himself on fire at Paloura area here today.
Around 5:30 pm, an unidentified man sprinkled some combustible substance on his body and set himself ablaze near Paloura Chowk Graveyard.
After getting information, he was taken to Government Medical College Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the reasons as to why the man took such an extreme step to end his life.
Meanwhile, police have shifted the body to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem and appealed the public at large to help them identify the deceased individual, who is around 5 feet and six inches tall.
Individuals having any information about the deceased individual can dial the PCR (01912542001) to help them identify the deceased.
