SRINAGAR, May 28 : A 55-year-old man from Baramulla district today died of Coronavirus in Kashmir taking the Jammu and Kashmir death toll to 27 while 101 people tested positive in Valley for COVID-19 taking the number of Corona positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir beyond 2000.

The man was referred from GMC Hospital Baramulla with fever, respiratory distress on May 27 to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.  He expired within hours of admission. His sample tested positive for COVID-19 today.
Of the fresh 101 cases from Kashmir, 45 are from Kupwara, 16 from Baramulla, 11 each from Srinagar and Budgam,  8 from Shopian, 7 from Anantnag and  3 from Pulwama.
Sixty one Kashmiris with 42 from Kupwara, 11 from Budgam, six from Srinagar and one each from Kulgam and Anatnag tested positive at Command Hospital Udhampur and 8 at a Private laboratory.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that out of 1429 samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab, 15 tested positive.  Among them, four are from Kupwara, three from Pampore Pulwama, two each from Srinagar, Shopian and Anantnag while one each is from Kulgam and Baramulla.
Three persons including two men and one boy aged 79, 63 and 17 years from Namtahal Pampore who arrived at Srinagar airport tested positive at SKIMS lab. Two women aged 35 and 24 years and equal number of men aged 28 and 28 years who also arrived at Srinagar airport from New Delhi were and residents of Anantnag, Tangpora Shopian and Tangpora Shopian and KP Road Iqbal Abad Anantnag respectively tested positive at SKIMS lab.
Three men with travel history of Uttarakhand and one man with Gujarat travel history aged 50, 42, 32 and 26 Darsun Kupwara, Manzgam Kupwara, Gulgam Kupwara and Kupwara town tested positive at SKIMS lab.
A 28 year old man and 42 year old woman from Nowhatta Srinagar with travel history of Andhra Pradesh also tested positive. A 35 year old man from Lammar in district Kulgam and a 28 year old woman from Sopore with no travel history also tested positive at SKIMS lab.
Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Salim Khan, told Excelsior that out of 450 samples processed at Microbiology Lab at CD hospital, 11 tested positive.
Four of the positive samples were received from GMC Anantnag, three of the patients are from Srinagar—2 admitted in JLNMH Srinagar, one Dalgate—three from Baramulla including 55-year-old man who had died a day ago and one case is from Chadoora Budgam.
He said among the cases, three are pregnant women—28-year-old and 29-year-old from Anantnag while another is 28-year-old from Pahalgam.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo,  told Excelsior that out of 259 samples processed at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory today, six tested positive and include a 22 year old man from Lal Bazar locality of Srinagar with travel history and five people, a 29 year old man from Mamender Shopian and four others aged 6, 29, 25 and 28 years from Vehi Shopian.
So far Anantnag has 289 COVID-19 positives, highest in all districts, followed by 255 in Kulgam, 237 in Kupwara, 220 in Srinagar, 169 in Baramulla,  154 in Bandipora, 149 in Shopian, 89 in  Budgam,  52 in Pulwama and 31 in Ganderbal.
Authorities said till date 155736 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 37009 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 55 in Hospital Quarantine, 1150 in hospital isolation and 38021 home surveillance. Besides, 79474 persons have completed their surveillance period.
