Srinagar, Feb 1: A fraudster posing as an army man has duped a man from north Kashmir’s Handwara of over 1 lakh rupees.
As per details, a labourer from Audoora Qalamabad village in Mawer Handwara claimed that a person asked him to deposit the money to a tractor in return.
The victim who has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad War son of Mohammad Akber said that he received a WhatsApp call from a person on January 29, 2022, telling him that he had won a Mahindra tractor through a lucky draw.
He said that the man repeatedly called him and sought the address for the delivery of the tractor-which as per the fraudster was lying at the army camp in Pattan-and asked him to deposit the security amount.
In the end, when he reached the army camp in Pattan, Ghulam Mohammad War came to know that he was duped even as he ensured the money by selling his livestock.
He said that after discussing the matter with some people, he was told to file a complaint following which he finally filed a complaint at police station Qalamabad.
Police in this regard has said that they are looking into the matter.
