JAMMU, May 18: The dead body of a man was found hanging in a hotel room here today.
“The body of Vinay Kumar (44) son of Kasturi Lal, a resident of Poonch and a retired BSF personnel, was found hanging from the hook of a ceiling fan in his room at Hotel Sant, Jewel, this morning”, a police spokesman said.
He said in the morning, the hotel staff had knocked on Kumar’s door but when they got no response from inside, they informed the police, who rushed to the spot, opened the door with a duplicate key and found Kumar’s body hanging with the hook of the ceiling fan.
“A case has been registered and after completing all medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said, adding the initial investigations point towards a case of suicide.
