Man gets 4 yrs RI for killing wife

JAMMU, Nov 30: Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah, M K Sharma today awarded four and half years imprisonment to one Pardeep Kumar for murdering his wife.
According to the police case, on January 7, 2013 Ram Parshad, father of the accused telephonically informed the complainant Mool Raj, father of the deceased that the deceased Poonam Devi has consumed some poisonous substance and asked the complainant to reach Bhaderwah hospital.
On reaching Bhaderwah hospital, the complainant found his daughter Poonam Devi dead. He found some marks of violence on the neck and body of the deceased. On the strength of written report lodged by the complainant, a case was registered in Police Station Bhaderwah.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “there is sufficient material on the file to presume that the accused caused death of the deceased by hitting her on the abdomen with the knowledge that his act is likely to cause death of the deceased”, adding “the accused is, therefore, proved to have committed offence punishable under Section 304-II”.
Accordingly, court awarded rigorous imprisonment for four and a half years to the accused.
