JAMMU, July 24: Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah MK Sharma today awarded rigorous life imprisonment to one Surinder Singh, son of Roshan Lal of Bhaderwah for murdering his wife for dowry.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Manju Sharma for the State whereas Advocates P K Parihar & F H Beigh for the accused , court observed, “this is a case of murder of a young lady by none other than her husband, for whom she left the family of her parents and siblings”.
“The contagion of lawlessness would undermine social order and lay it in ruins. Protection of society and stamping out criminal proclivity must be the object of law which must be achieved by imposing appropriate sentence”, the court said, adding “but this case does not fall in the category of rarest of rare cases where the death sentence is warranted”.
According, rigorous imprisonment for life was awarded to the convict.
