JAMMU, May 5: A 44-year old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself near his residence at Shahidi Chowk area of this winter capital of the State.
According to police spokesperson, the man identified as Rakesh Kumar son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Bawe Wali Gali, Shahidi Chowk, Jammu, hanged himself with the hook of a ceiling fan at his residence, during the intervening night of May 4 and 5.
The family members came to know about the incident only in the wee hours. They informed the police which reached the spot and shifted the dead body to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting postmortem the body was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
Though no suicide note was recovered from the spot, the concerned police has registered a case and started investigations.
