Srinagar, Jan 7: Police in Kulgam today said to have arrested an accused person who was involved in wrongful confinement and sexual assault of a minor girl, within one hour.
A police spokesperson in this regard said that the Police Station Devsar received a written complaint from one person stating “that a minor girl was confined wrongfully and assaulted sexually by one person namely Abdul Rehman Laway son of Abdul Aziz Laway resident of Malwan when she was alone at her home.”
Accordingly, police said, a case FIR No. 03/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Devsar and investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, police said that a special team headed by SHO Devsar under the supervision of DySP Kulgam Aashaq Hussain acted swiftly on specific information and arrested the accused person within one hour after the complaint was filed.
He has been shifted to PS Devsar where he remains in custody.
Police said that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the minor girl was handed over to her legal heirs, while as the further investigation into the matter is on.
