JAMMU, Sept 19: A man was arrested for trying to outage the modesty of minor girl in Sainik Colony area, falling under the jurisdiction of Channi Himmat Police Station.
As per police sources, a minor girl aged around 8 years hailing from Bomitha, district Chaterpur, Madhya Pradesh, at present Sainik Colony was heading towards her home, when her neighbour namely Jamna Das (40), son of Raja Ram of Chaterpur, Madhya Pardesh, presently at Sainik Colony lured her and took her to secluded place.
The accused molested her and also tried to outrage the modesty of the minor girl, but she managed to escape from the spot.
After reaching home, the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents, who lodged complaint with Police Station Channi Himmat.
After registering a case under FIR number 77/14 under Section 376 and 511 RPC, police started manhunt to nab the accused, who also went underground after committing the crime.
On specific inputs, police teams from Channi Himmat Police Station and Police Post Sainik Colony jointly conducted a raid and arrested the accused from a hideout.
After completing legal formalities, the girl was restored to family members. Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Channi Himmat Police Station Aejaz Wani and Incharge Police Post Sainik Colony Sushil Chowdhary made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Rafiq Manhas and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
