Man held with 30 rolls of banned Chinese Manja

JAMMU, Aug 21: As a part of the drive against the sale of banned synthetic threads (manja), various nakas were laid in different locations by Jammu Police and during the process, a man was nabbed with 30 rolls of the banned Chinese Manja.
“Acting on a tip off that one person is carrying banned synthetic threads for sale in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Post Pounichak, a team of the Police Post led by its Incharge PSI Nitish Khajuria laid a special naka where they rounded up a suspected person which was on its way from Talab Tillo towards Hazuri Bagh on a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CV-1059,” a Police spokesman said.
He said on search, 30 rolls of Chinese Manja (Gattu) were recovered from the possession of the suspect identified as Avinash Goria son of Sanjay Kumar resident of Colonel Colony.
“In this regard, a case under relevant sections got registered at Police Station Domana and the accused was arrested,” the spokesman said, adding, the arrest was made in violation of DM order regarding ban on sale of plastic/synthetic threads (manja).
