RAJOURI, Sept 7: The district police Rajouri today nabbed a man hailing from Chhattisgarh with 9 kilograms of narcotic substances. This commendable action highlights the growing efforts of the police in combating the drug menace in the region.
The arrest took place during a police naka at Kallar Chowk on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway. A team led by SHO Rajouri, Abid Shah, was conducting routine checking when a man, upon noticing the naka, attempted to flee.
Acting swiftly on his suspicious behaviour, the police intercepted him. Upon frisking, they recovered a large consignment of narcotics, suspected to be ganja, weighing 9 kilograms from his possession.

The accused, identified as Umesh Kumar Sahu, son of Anand Ram Sahu, hailing from Chhattisgarh, has been arrested. A case FIR No. 390/2024 U/S 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered in Rajouri Police Station against him.
This operation, was carried out under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarters Satish Kumar, demonstrates the effectiveness of Rajouri’s police force in curbing illegal activities.
SSP Rajouri, Randeep Kumar, emphasized the department’s commitment to tightening the noose on drug peddlers. “Fighting the narcotics menace is one of our top priorities, and several FIRs have been registered in recent times,” he said.
SSP appealed to the public to come forward with information related to drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
