Man held with heroin, sword

JAMMU, Nov 14: One person was arrested with 5.55 grams of heroin and a sword from Miran Sahib Area here, police said today.
They said during routine naka checking at Dak Bungalow on Monday, a police team headed by Inspector Bopinder Singh, SHO Miran Sahib, stopped a car for checking.
On seeing the police party, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee away from the spot by driving in the reverse direction in a rash and negligent manner, resulting in collision (of the vehicle) with a scooty driven by an unknown driver, police said, adding that in the collision of the vehicles, both the rashly driven car and scooty got damaged.
“After hectic efforts, police party stopped the rashly driven vehicle and on search of its driver, 5.55 grams of heroin and a sword was recovered,” said police.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle identified as Manpreet Singh alias Sartaj of Ward Number 2, Simbal Camp, Miran Sahib, was arrested and booked in case FIR number 159/2023 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, 279/337 of the IPC and 4/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station Miran Sahib.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
Pertinently, the entire operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Ramnish Gupta, SP Headquarters, Jammu.
