JAMMU, Dec 22: A pedestrian was knocked to death by an over speeding auto-rickshaw in Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu.
“The 56-year-old Rampal Sharma son of Dewan Chand Sharma, resident of House Number 36 A Bhagwati Nagar, was hit and grievously injured by a speeding e-auto rickshaw, late last night when he was crossing the road near his residence,” police sources said.
They said the injured man was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he passed away after about an hour during treatment. “The body of the deceased was today handed over to his family after autopsy while a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Nowabad and further investigation started,” sources stated.
Sources added that the vehicle involved in the accident was seized while the accused driver identified as Vickle son of Babu Ram of Bhagwati Nagar (Jammu) was also arrested.
