SAMBA, Sept 4: A middle aged man was murdered and his body was thrown in the fields near Mandhera village in Ghagwal area of district Samba today.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Uttam Chand, son of Late Vishar Nath, resident of Mandhera in Ghagwal. He was missing since Saturday evening. The family members were searching for him.
Some people noticed the body lying in the fields at some distance from the village and informed Ghagwal police. A police party led by SHO Ghagwal rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Samba hospital for postmortem. The body had injury marks on head and some bleeding was visible from one ear. After postmortem, the body was handed over to the family.
The police said Uttam’s wife who hails from Thathi in Udhampur, was living separately. She had strained relations with husband since long and she had been living in Jammu along with her daughter. On Saturday, Uttam had some clash with one Ghulam Mustafa, resident of Thathi village on some money issue. Uttam had stabbed Mustafa and he was hospitalized. Later referred to GMC Jammu. The police said that a case has been registered in this connection and investigation started. While Mustafa claimed that he had gone to Uttam’s village just to get back his money from him while relatives of the deceased alleged illicit relations of Mustafa with Uttam’s wife who also belonged to the same area.
No arrest could be made by police in this connection so far while it claimed to have launched inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC.
