AKHNOOR, Dec 3: A youth was murdered by some unidentified assailants by using blunt objects and stones, who then dumped his body in the bushes just in front of San Francis Convent School on Jourian Road in Akhnoor town last night.
A shopkeeper of the area, who went to attend nature’s call in the nearby bushes during the mid-day, found a male body of a youth lying in the bushes and informed other people of the area. A large number of people gathered there and found that a youth had been done to death and thrown in the bushes there. They informed Akhnoor Police about the matter.
Immediately after coming to know about the matter SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Pardeep Sharma along with some cops reached at the spot. SDPO Akhnoor also arrived there after some time. The police team along with Forensic experts examined the spot. They found that youth had been attacked on head with some blunt objects and possibly with stones and then the body had been dumped in the bushes just closer to San Francis Convent School, Akhnoor.
It was established that a man had been murdered some where else and the body had been thrown there in the bushes during last midnight. The body was shifted to Akhnoor hospital for postmortem and the identity of the deceased was also established after his family members reached there.
SP Rural Jammu, Mohan Lal Kaith told the Excelsior that deceased was later identified as 32-year-old Pritam Lal alias Piddu, son of Chhaju Ram, resident of Kotgarhi in Akhnoor. He said that he himself visited the spot and examined it thoroughly and directed investigating officer to work on different angles. He disclosed that a Medical Board conducted postmortem of the body and later it was handed over to the family.
The SP said that it was blind murder but the police has established a clue about the killers. He said the police has started working on the `sex-angle’ and the case is likely to be solved within two-three days. Mr Kaith said it was clear murder and possibly committed somewhere else.
A case under Section 302 RPC has been registered. Several suspects were picked up and placed under questioning. The man was seen by several people in Akhnoor town with some people. He had taken some liquor with a few friends at local Dhaba at Akhnoor and thereafter, went missing. His family was looking for him since last night.
