RAJOURI, July 22: A villager murdered his young wife and escaped from Taryath area of tehsil Kalakote last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sujata Devi (25), wife of Joginder Pal, resident of Talyot village near Taryath. The police said after a tiff between husband and wife over a domestic issue last night around 10 pm, Joginder started beating wife. Then in a fit of anger, he took out an axe and attacked on wife’s head. The wife fell down on the ground and started bleeding profusely.
While the wife was killed on the spot, Joginder escaped from the spot. The neighbours reported the matter to police. A Taryath police party reached the spot after an hour and shifted the body to local hospital and handed over to the family after postmortem today.
The villagers and parents of the girl, Sujata alleged that it was second marriage of Joginder Pal. His first wife died under mysterious circumstances few years back. Her dead body was found lying at the bank of a nallah. The police had closed the file. They alleged that first wife was also believed to be murdered by Joginder but the case was not properly investigated.
Meanwhile, Dharmsal police registered a case under section 302 RPC and started investigation. The cops were conducting raids to trace and nab the accused.
