JAMMU, May 9: A man today committed suicide by hanging self after murdering his wife at her residence in Bishnah area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, a man identified as Kuldeep Singh son of Diwan Singh, resident of Makhanpur (Bishnah) entered into a quarrel with his wife namely Balwinder Kour, over some issue this morning. He said soon the quarrel escalated and in a fit of rage, the man attacked his wife several times with a sharp edged weapon (toka) and left her seriously injured.
“The profusely bleeding woman was immediately rushed to Sub District Hospital, Bishnah by other family members, but in view of her serious condition the doctors there referred her to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the official said.
Meanwhile, the official said, Bishnah police after getting reports of the crime reached the spot to arrest the accused but he was not found there. He said when police launched a search operation for the accused he was found hanging with a tree in a field, at some distance from his residence.
He said after completion of all medico-legal formalities, both the bodies were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites.
When contacted, SDPO RS Pura, Sourav Prashar, said that a case FIR No 99/2018 was registered at police station Bishnah and investigations started while weapon of offence was also recovered.
