RAJOURI, June 10: A villager beaten his wife to death and caused severe injuries to his minor daughter when she tried to resist and protect her mother at village Kharak in Sunderbani today.
The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Neelam Devi. Police said over some domestic issue, Kartar Chand (45) severely beaten up his wife with blows and kicks. When his 15-year-old daughter tried to intervene and save her mother, she was also beaten up severely by him.
Neelam sustained some internal injuries and had blood vomiting and turned unconscious. The daughter raised alarm and neighbours rushed there. They shifted Neelam to Sunderbani hospital where doctors declared her as brought dead. Injured Ankita was later referred to GMC Hospital Jammu.
The police registered a case and arrested Kartar Chand. The body was sent for postmortem.
