Man murders young wife

UDHAMPUR, Oct 16: A young house wife was allegedly murdered by her husband over some petty issue in Majalta area of district Udhampur last night.
The deceased was identified as 24-year-old, Rita Devi, wife of Sham Lal, resident village Palanu in Majalta. Husband fled the scene after assaulting his wife, who succumbed to her injuries later in the house.
Majalta police rushed to the spot after coming to know about the matter and registered a murder case in this connection. The accused husband was still evading arrest.
A police spokesman said that the accused husband, Sham Lal was working as laborer at Jalandhar. He returned a few days back to his home. He used to beat up an victimize drinking and he used to harass his wife.
He said last night, about 1:30 am, Sham Lal had some heated argument with his wife and caught his wife from throat and pressed with both the hands and killed her on the spot.
On getting the information, police party rushed to the spot and arrested four persons in this connection. They included husband Sham Lal, his father Hari Ram Bhagat, mother-in-law Makhnu and brother-in-law Ashok Kumar of Palanu village in Majalta. A case FIR No. 126 under Section 302/109 IPC has been registered in this connection and further investigation was in progress.
