Srinagar, June 15: Police in Baramulla today solved a theft case by arresting a person involved in looting a mosque donation box.
According to authorities, on June 14, Police Post old town Baramulla received a written complaint from the Intezamia Committee of Masjid Madina Dargah Aaliya old town Baramulla, stating that the donation box of Masjid Sharief had been burgled by unknown persons during the night.
Accordingly, police said, a case was registered under FIR No. 142/2024 in Police Station Baramulla under relevant sections of law, and an investigation was initiated.
“During the investigation, technical evidence was scrutinized, leading to the identification of the accused as Waseem Ahmad Chichek, son of Abdul Gaffar, resident of Lal Baab Sahab Arampora Sopore. He was subsequently arrested,” police said.
During questioning, authorities reported that the accused admitted his involvement in the crime. “On his disclosure, the stolen money was recovered from his possession,” they added.
