Man wanted in robbery, murder in Mysore nabbed

RAJOURI, Aug 28: A wanted criminal involved in the armed robbery at a jeweller’s shop and murder in Mysore in Karnataka state besides several other thefts in Rajouri area was today arrested by police from a hideout in Rajouri town.
Official sources said that based on specific inputs, Rajouri Police arrested one person namely Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Sayallan in Surankote (Poonch). He was wanted in a case FIR No 439/21 U/S 457/380/ IPC of Police Station, Rajouri.
SP Rajouri, Sheema Nabi Qasba when contacted told that his name figured in a number of thefts in Rajouri and accordingly a special team under her supervision was constituted. The team comprising ASP Vivek Shekhar and SHO Rajouri started working on the case.
After receiving specific input about his presence, the police team tracked him whereas, he had changed his location from Surankote and was finally arrested from Rajouri city. During his interrogation the accused disclosed his involvement in a case of armed robbery and murder in Mysore city and from his possession cash amounting to Rs 46, 410 and gold 234.8 gms amounting about Rs 11 lakh was recovered.
The suspect as verified from Mysore police is involved in case FIR No. 70/2021 under Section 394/396 IPC 25(1b)27 (1)IA ACT of Police Station Vidyaranyapuram, Mysore city.
In the instant case, the accused had along with his associates committed an armed robbery in a jewellery shop in Mysore city and during robbery has shot a customer present in the shop who died due to firing on the spot. Mysore police has been informed accordingly.
