Man who escaped from police custody re-arrested

JAMMU, Nov 10: Police here in the Nagrota area have re-arrested an individual who escaped from custody yesterday.
The accused, Shabir Shah (31), son of Shah Mansha from Sitni TCP, Nagrota, was held under the NDPS Act and was in custody at Nagrota Police Station.
He managed to escape on Saturday morning after pushing a police officer while being taken to the washroom.
Following an alarm, police launched a search operation, but the accused remained at large until late last night.
“He was arrested from the Belicharana area this morning. On way to Police Station Nagrota, he made another attempt to escape by jumping from the police vehicle at Ramnagar Morh, Nagrota, resulting in injuries in his arm. However, he was overpowered,” said a police officer.
After receiving treatment at Government Medical College Jammu, the accused has been taken back into custody by the Nagrota Police Station, he said.
