Man who lost one eye in Pak shelling 12 yrs back yet to get compensation

POONCH, Oct 4: A poor border resident in Degwari sector is struggling to get any compensation from the Government even 12 years after he lost his one eye in Pak shelling.
According to the reports, a poor labourer namely Mohd Taj (36) son of Noor Mohd, resident of forward village Talan in Degwar sector along LoC, became blind by one eye in the year 2008 when a splinter of the mortar shell fired by Pakistan forces hit his one eye at his house.
The victim alleged that he did not receive any help from Government side even in his medical treatment which was mostly done at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.

“I lost my one eye in the Pakistan firing and became unfit for any Government as well as private job. Since then, I am meeting both ends of my family by doing labour work,” he said and regretted that despite knocking doors of every Government authority as well as political leaders, he did not receive any compensation from Government side.
He criticized the Government authorities for turning blind eye towards his miseries. “I also applied for Government pension but even after 12 years, I am empty handed,” Taj said and appealed the LG Manoj Sinha to issue necessary directions to the concerned authorities to extend compensation and other financial help to him and many others like him.
