Managing social evils

Sir,
If we want to live in a healthy society, we need to do away with social evil pervading our society. These evils reflect our behaviour and way of thinking. As they becomes road blocks in our way to a progressive outlook, these need to be wiped out from society.
Legal approach will extensively manage social evils by enacting laws banning social evils like casteism, child  abuse, child labour, gender abuse etc. Legal approach has been broadly used in smoking control by various mechanisms such as (a) inserting statutory  warnings  on cigarette pockets (b) banning smoking in schools, offices, cinema halls and public gathering areas.
Rehabilitation approach with regard to neglected children can be carried out within the family environment or outside family by offering parental counselling, food supplements and other basic necessities of child care. Abused children may require rehabilitation outside their family settings such as by adoption, by foster care or by SoS villages. Rehabilitation has tremendous scope in controlling prostitution and child labour. Merely banning of child labour cannot eliminate the evil unless it is supported by adequate rehabilitation service. Rehabilitation of prostitutes also demands active community participation and social support. Lastly development approach is very important in the matter for eradication of evils from the society.
Development can mitigate social evils like child labour, child abuse and prostitution and their ill effects. Management of social evils demands our attention and action on the part of Government.
Yours etc…
