Mandi BDO office faces staff shortage

POONCH, Aug 9: Many posts are lying vacant in Block Development Office Mandi in Poonch district including the post of BDO as Block Development Officer Loran is looking after the charge of this post from last three and a half months.
Official sources said that a transfer list of BDOs was issued by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj department in April, transferring BDO Mandi Akankasha Gupta to Poonch block and Mohd ibrahim to Loran Block with additional charge of block Mandi, while no officer was appointed and given the full charge of BDO Mandi after that.
Moreover, the Post of Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO) is also lying vacant since many years, Statistical Officer (SO) from last two years, Statistical Assistant (SA) from last many years, Junior Assistant from more than 3 months, Onspector Panchayat from last 1.5 years, and the posts of Watcher, orderly, plantation supervisor are lying vacant from last many years due to which people are suffering badly.
Though the contractual and field staff is somehow managing the office work but people visiting to this office suffer due to acute shortage of staff. Elected representatives including local Sarpanches have urged Government to fill up the vacant posts of Block Development Officer Mandi and all other vacant posts so that people may not suffer more.
