Manhas heads JCCB BoDs, elections deferred

JAMMU, Aug 31: The Government today appointed Arun Kumar Manhas, Project Director, SAMAGRA Shiksha as Chairman and five other officers/ individuals as Members of the Board of Directors of the Jammu Citizens’ Cooperative Bank (JCCB) for three months or till the elections are held.
The other members are- Deepika Mahajan Senior Advocate J&K High Court, a representative from J&K Bank to be nominated by Chairman, representative from NABARD to be nominated by CGM, Rajat Mengi Chartered Accountant and the Managing Director/ CEO (Member Secy) of the Jammu Citizen;s Cooperative Bank Ltd.
Official sources said that the three year term of the BODs of the JCCB was over on 25-8-2017. Due to COVID-19 situation, the DM not allowed the conduct of elections. Therefore, the process of election was deferred for at least three months or till the situation improves. The Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K, Asif Hamid Khan, exercising his powers under J&K Cooperative Societies Act, 1989, issued orders of appointment of Chairman and other members of the JCCB for three months or till the fresh elections are held.
