JAMMU, Dec 15: Member Legislative Council (MLC) and former Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu Zafar Iqbal Manhas inaugurated International Art Exhibition, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) in collaboration with Kala Kendra, Jammu, ArtFort India, Chandigarh and Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu.
On the occasion, Prof Rita Jitender was the guest of honour.
One hundred and thirty artists from abroad and from twenty States of India are participating in this exhibition.
The exhibition is dedicated to Late Gobind Kaur, first woman sculptor of J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, OP Sharma, Director, JKCCA and Curator of the Exhibition reflected his views about the activities of the organization and its future plans. He said that JKCCA will organize All India Painters’ Camps at Poonch and Amritsar in very near future.
He added that a mobile exhibition will be arranged to travel to different schools of the region to make the children aware about the art and culture of the State and around.
Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that this exhibition is a show of varied hues of expressions, mediums and styles shown by three generations together globally.
Prof Rita Jitender said that the organizers have displayed their ability of organizing such a show at Jammu.
Jang S Verman who conceived this exhibition said that he hit upon the idea to bring the global art scene to Jammu while he was working in an All India Painters Camp during May 2015, at International Centre for Reorichs at Naggar (Kullu) where he shared his views with ArtFort India members. He said that such exhibition is a good opportunity and exposure for upcoming artists of the State to see and interact with the artists at international level.
Raj Bharti, President, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu, DP Abrol, President, JKCCA, Radhey Shyam, Advisor, JKCCA, Prof Sarla Kohli, TS Batra, Gokal Dembi, Artists from Amritsar, KS Gill, Narinder Singh, Dharminder Sharma, Bhawna Sharma from Mohal, Nisha Soni, Kota, Vijay Saraaf Meenage, Harshvardhan, Suman Gupta, Anil Saraf, Akram Khan, Jasleen Singh, Manoj Chopra, PL Parwana, Shakti Kumari, Darshan Singh, Amrit Kour, besides many others were present on the occasion.
