Manhas, Trehan distribute Vishwakarma certificates among beneficiaries

JAMMU, Feb 27:    In an impressive function at Akhnoor, former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Shamsher Singh Manhas along with chief spokesperson, BJP Mahila Morcha J&KUT Ritika Trehan , Mahant Rameshwar Dass, DDC member, Sharda Bhau and Gaurav Khajuria today distributed Vishwakarma Certificates among beneficiaries.
The programme was organized by Gaurav. Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that PM Vishwakarma Scheme will encourage and protect the artisans and craftspeople of the country who are unwilling to engage in traditional business due to adversity. He said that the scheme was aimed at inclusiveness. “Artisans and craftspeople involved in the traditional work sometimes feel hesitant to continue in the business.
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme encourages them to stick on to their work. The scheme also encourages youngsters to join their traditional trade. It makes it easier for them to finance their business and get training to enhance their skills,” Manhas said, noting that capital is the most important requirement for any business. He urged all those eligible to avail benefits under PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ritika underscored the contribution and importance of the Vishwakarmas in the everyday life of the country.”The Government has come forward as a partner to elevate the respect, enhance the capabilities and assist the prosperity of the Vishwakarmas,” she remarked. Throwing light on the 18 focus areas of artisans and craftsmen, she informed that carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, sculptors, potters, cobblers, tailors, masons, hairdressers, washermen, etc have been included in the PM Vishwakarma scheme and the Government will spend Rs 13,000 crores on its implementation.
In her address, Ritika also stressed the need to be “vocal for local” and urged people to buy local products. She said the world witnessed the result of the amalgamation of technology and tradition at the G-20 craft bazaar. Even the gifts for the visiting dignitaries comprised products made by traditional artisans and craftsmen.”This dedication to vocal for local is the responsibility of the entire country,” she said, and added, “first we have to be vocal for local and then we will have to take the local global.”
