KATHUA, Apr 1: Apni Party’s provincial president, Manjeet Singh urged the administration to provide adequate compensation to the farmers who have met huge losses due to the recent rains. Also, he urged the authorities to ensure that the old age pensioners including widows and physically challenged individuals are not subjected to unnecessary trouble in the name of avoidable formalities.
He was addressing a party meeting here today.
The meeting was called to discuss public issues and certain party matters.
Manjeet Singh, while addressing the meeting, criticized the Social Welfare Department for creating unnecessary hurdles for pensioners, widows, and physically challenged individuals.
He said, “The Department must review its policies and procedures to alleviate the difficulties faced by these vulnerable people.”
He also urged the Government to provide compensation to farmers affected by recent rains.
He said, “The farmers have met huge losses due to the rains. The Government must assess the losses and accordingly provide compensation to them.”
Furthermore, Singh raised concerns over the toll rates enforced by the administration in Jammu region. He said, “The Union Transport Minister, Nitin Ghatkari recently announced the removal of toll within a 60 km radius; therefore the concerned authorities should fulfil this promise and stop charging tolls to local residents.”
The meeting discussed the party matters and outlined a strategy to ensure the party is strengthened further in the Jammu region. On this occasion, Manjeet Singh urged the party leaders and senior workers to enhance their political activities and public outreach campaigns in order to remain connected with the masses at the grassroots level.
