SAMBA, Feb 3: Congress leader from Vijaypur Manjit Singh has alleged that huge funds provided by the Centre under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) in Samba have been misappropriated.
Addressing a public meeting at village Ramlu Brahmana here today, the Congress leader said that huge funds sanctioned under BADP in the area have been mis-appropriated by the concerned official. He said the people of this border belt have been deprived of the funds provided by the UPA Government for the development of border area. Mr Singh demanded a high level inquiry into the matter.
He pointed out that in last 3-4 years, many works were started in the area under the scheme but majority of them have been abandoned due to unknown reasons. He alleged that people have been left to suffer. He also demanded that same benefits be accorded to the people of this border belt in Samba and Kathua which are being accorded to those living along the LoC.
