Manjit asks Cong Ministers to raise border migrants issues in Cabinet meeting

VIJAYPUR, Oct 13: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed his party Ministers in Omar Abdullah’s Coalition Government to raise the issue of 5 marla plots and reservation for them like ALC residents for border people in next Cabinet meeting.
Singh, issued this statement, after he visited Ramgarh border villages and other areas affected due to Pakistan firing across the International Border.
He said that the Congress Minister should not let the opportunity to go and force the Government to accept demand of five marla plots for the border residents putting up near International Border and reservation for them in jobs and educational institutions.
He said that the youth of these areas have been badly affected due to Pak shelling as they could not continue studies in view of heavy shelling and repeated migration towards safer places.
“The people putting up in the villages along the IB have risked their lives yet the administration has not taken any step to ensure their safety. The people arrange vehicle to shift to safer places,” Singh said, while criticizing the Samba administration. He also criticized the Union Government for its failure to end stalemate on the border with Pakistan.
