Manjit asks Cong Ministers to raise issue of refugees in Cabinet

Vijaypur, May 29: Seeking intervention of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led State Government to send proposal to the Government of India for the one time settlement of displaced persons/refugees.
“These people are state subjects and were provided land by the State Government but they have no right on the land, they are holding,” Manjit Singh, in a statement said.
Singh, who was annoyed with the delaying role of National Conference, said that if the proposal would be delayed any further it would have dire consequences for the party.
He, while expressing commitment of the Congress Party, said that it was his party which projected the demands and UPA Government was ready for the one time settlement of the refugees/displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971.
He said that the State Government should also take some steps for the settlement of the refugees which in the hands of the J&K Government as they are State subjects not outsiders.
Even as NC has adopted ignorant approach towards the serious issue but the Congress Ministers should take up the matter for its resolution in the next Cabinet meeting.
“The Congress Ministers should built pressure on Omar Abdullah so that the package could be sent to Delhi for compensation to the refugees/displaced persons,” Singh added.
