BISHNAH, Jan 14: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and former Minister, S Manjit Singh has demanded restoration of democratic system and Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
He was speaking at a one-day convention of the Apni Party at village Deoli, Bishnah, organized by Apni Party leader Ashwani Kumar.
Quoting the demands of the people, Manjit Singh urged the Govt to open an ITI College in the area and start a special recruitment drive for the unemployed youth in Bishnah and its adjoining areas.
He said that the unemployed youth were falling into the trap of drug addiction that needs to be handled with careful crafting of policy for their employment in Army, paramilitary forces, and J&K Police. He also demanded reservation for the local youth in the Industrial units of Bari Brahmana so that the skilled and unskilled youth of Bishnah and other adjoining areas could be employed there.
“The industrial units have engaged workers on contract basis and majority of the employees in the industrial sector are from outside J&K. It is the responsibility of the Govt to ensure reservation of jobs for local youth from the surroundings of the respective industrial areas,” he said.
Manjit Singh stressed that there is no alternative to an elected Govt. “The elections must be held to address the concerns of the people from both the regions. The development has received a setback with no elected Govt in place. Therefore, it becomes imperative to hold Assembly elections in J&K as early as possible, besides restoring statehood,” he added.
Manjit Singh also highlighted the commitment of the Party towards the upliftment of the people through various schemes. He said the Party would enhance the widow pension/handicapped pension/old age pension up to Rs 5000, will provide four cooking gas cylinders to each poor family under Ujjwala scheme, will also enhance the marriage assistance to the poor girls up to Rs 1 lakh with immediate release of the money for their marriage, and other such schemes if Apni Party forms next Govt in J&K.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion, included Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, Saleem Alam, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Ajaz Kazmi, Adv Nirmal Kotwal and others.
