NEW DELHI, Dec 15: Former MLA & Bhartiya Janata Party leader Balwant Singh Mankotia today called on Gen (Retd) VK Singh, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation and discussed issues of public importance in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Mankotia raised the issue of service road from Tikri to Jakhani on both sides of National Highways so that during traffic jams local public should not suffer. He also demanded construction of National Highway from Udhampur to Sawalakote via Lander Panchari and also discussed slow pace of work on Udhampur Ramban National highway and Chenani-Sudhmahadev stretch.
He said that stretch on Udhampur-Srinagar National Highway near Samroli and Ramban need flyovers as shooting stones and unstable mountains are a security problem for the people travelling on these roads.
MoS Road, Transport and Highways paid a patient hearing and assured to take up the issues raised by Mankotia with the concerned authorities. He also discussed the issue of widening Dhar road & Ramnagar -Dudu Basantgarh road. He said the development of Jammu and Kashmir is the top most priority of PM Narendra Modi led Government and Naya Jammu Kashmir is in the making.
