Mankotia demands postponement of Panchayat polls

UDHAMPUR, Nov 4: Expressing concern over the working of Returning Officers (ROs), National Panthers Party (NPP) President, Balwant Singh Mankotia said that lack of information and knowledge of concerned ROs may lead to unfair elections in Panchayats.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mankotia said that in some places the concern ROs have accepted the nominations of ASHA workers and also issued them election symbols while at other places they have rejected the nominations of ASHA workers which raises serious question mark on the conduction of fair polls.
He alleged that ROs are not properly following the guidelines of Panchayati Raj Act and added that the Governor should intervene.
Mankotia demanded postponement of Panchayati elections.
Councillors Sunil Proach, Samnik Bhasin and Sunil Gudda were also present in the press conference.
