UDHAMPUR, Nov 9: Expressing serious concern over the working of Returning Officers (ROs), former MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia warned huge protest if concern authorities would not publish necessary documents list in newspapers required for nomination in upcoming Panchayat elections.
While addressing a press conference at Udhampur today, Mankotia alleged that in some places concern RO’s are asking for fitness certificate and character certificate which is not required to file nomination where as in some places concern RO’s have accepted the nominations of Asha workers and a few Govt employees and also issued election symbols while in some places RO’s rejected the nominations of Asha Workers which raises serious question mark on the conduction of fair polls.
Mankotia revealed that concerned RO’s are not following the proper guidelines of “Panchayati Raj Act” & working on their own policy which should require early intervention of the Governor.
Criticising the political interference of sitting MLA in upcoming Panchayat polls, former MLA blamed that local representative is violating Code of Conduct (CoC) and distributing electricity polls/wires, water pipes etc from his side which are sanctioned under various Governments schemes to particular candidate for his personal political interest for which he complained against him to concerned officers.
Mankotia warns massive protest if necessary documents list is not published in Newspapers within two days for the knowledge/ awareness of general masses. Councillor, Amarnath Mehra and Youth wing president Jagdev Singh Jagga were also present on the occasion.
