Mankotia resents Govt decision of abolishing SHGs

UDHAMPUR, Aug 18: Expressing strong resentment over the Govt’s recent decision of abolishing Self Help Groups, former MLA & NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia said that the Self Help Group’s scheme was providing self –employment to unemployed Engineers through 30 percent in construction works by Government departments.
While addressing a press conference, here today, Mankotia said that on the one hand the Government talks about giving employment to the youth, while on the other hand, it is working to snatch the employment of thousands of educated youth. He termed the Government decision on SHGs as a joke with the educated youth of Jammu Kashmir.
Expressing deep concern over the vacant posts of Engineers in various departments, Mankotia said that in Jammu and Kashmir, for the past many years, no Govt job for the Engineers has been advertised. While on the other hand, he added, the Government snatched the employment of thousands of self employed engineers who were employed under it.
Mankotia said that the Government should soon fill the vacant posts of Engineers in various Government departments and till then the Self Help Group scheme should be continued, he added
The JKNPP president urged Lieutenant Governor of JK UT to intervene into the matter at earliest and do the justice with thousands of self employed Engineers.
