UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: Former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia visited Talwara village and sought adequate facilities for the migrants putting up there.
Mankotia said that the displaced people told him that after the floods, they were leaving the quarters and taking shelter collectively in school, where they are barely passing the time.
People told him that since the flood water entered into the quarters of the colony on Friday and Saturday, they had to leave their quarters and take shelter in these places. “But how long this will happen and what is being thought of them by the administration or the Government? They are not being told anything about it. So some disabled people are lying here and there,” observed Mankotia.
Maintaining that he has been fighting the battle for rights of these people for the last 24 years, Mankotia lamented that the Government and administration were not ready to provide facilities to these displaced people.
“Different types of facilities are given to Kashmiri migrant but why the Government and its administration are silent for the migrants of Jammu?” Mankotia asked and demanded that the Jammu Talwara migrants should also be given facilities like the migrants of Kashmir.
