NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishakar on Monday slammed the erstwhile UPA regime saying the Manmohan Singh-led dispensation lacked ‘strategic clarity’.
He also said that as a society and a country, India needs to learn from China to develop “a mindset to decisively address issues”.
The remarks from the Minister on strategic flip flop during Manmohan Singh regime at a book release function here is also seen as an attack on former Foreign Secretary and ex-NSA Shivshankar Menon, who recently made critical observation on Indian diplomacy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Sometimes, when we do not have strategic clarity and we have had occasions like Sharm El Sheikh and Havana, when we allowed the perpetrators and deterrent to come on the same platform,” he said in reference to some pacts inked between India and Pakistan during the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister.
