RAJKOT: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday alleged that his successor Narendra Modi has “betrayed” the trust Gujaratis had reposed on him and asserted that the “blunders” committed by BJP-led dispensation should not be allowed to repeat.
“The Ggovernment likes to describe demonetisation as a bold decision, but there is a difference between bold and disastrous decision,” Dr Singh said here.
The former Prime Minister wondered how as a Gujarati leader, Prime Minister Modi “did not foresee” the troubles and sufferings that were unleashed by the Government decision on noteban and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax.
“You cannot fool all the people, all the time,” Dr Singh said here — considered the hub of politically sensitive Saurashtra region.
Chief Minister VIjay Rupani is pitted against Congress candidate Indranil Rajyaguru and polls in entire Saurashtra region will be held on December 9 — the first phase of polling. (AGENCIES)
