KATHUA, Apr 8: Former Minister and President DCC Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today showed serious concern towards the families affected by recent landslides at villages Mahron, Baggan and Lakhri areas of Billawar constituency, here.
Dr Sharma while speaking said that due to landslides many houses have suffered complete or partial damages which has affected around 20 families, besides around 1 km of road has been damaged due to which Baggan and Loimalhar villages have lost link with tehsil and district headquarters.
Manohar requested the administration to rehabilitate the displaced families to safer places on immediate basis and provide them with ration and other essential commodities as they are facing problems of movement also due to existing lockdown.
He appealed the district administration to immediately restore the damaged road and put in place proper preventive measures to avoid such landslide in near future.
He further urged administration to take proper care of affected families as these villages come under far-flung areas with limited resources and also pressed for adequate compensation to the affected people.
