KATHUA, June 22: Terming Congress-NC Coalition Government’s efforts to widen the access of medicare facilities as historic, Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperative, Finance and Planning Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said that the focus of the Government  was to cater the health care needs of the people especially living in rural and remote habitations.
The Minister said this after inaugurating health sub- centre building here at Phinter in Billawar today.
He said that the Department of Health has been strengthened with men and machinery  for its proper functioning.
The first phase of health sub-centre has been constructed with an estimated cost of 19 lakh under District Plan. The Minister said another Rs 35.50 lakh has been sanctioned to equip the sub centre with health care facilities. He assured that the work of second phase will commence at an earliest.
Dr Manohar also inaugurated additional classrooms building at Government Middle School Phinter, completed with an estimated cost of Rs 7.45 lakh under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan ( SSA).
He said that schools are vital assets of the society and education is a fundamental right of every citizen and no one should be deprived of getting it.
The locals of Panchayat Phinter presented charter of demands before the Minister. The problems and demands included upgradtion of school, problem of low voltage, road connectivity for Nai Basti, water problem in kandi and funds for sanctioned mini stadium Phinter.
Dr Sharma while responding to the problems and demands assured that the funds for principal room will be sanctioned soon and matter of funds for mini stadium will be taken up with concerned authorities. He directed PHE department to make arrangements of water supply on priority.
Among others BMO Billawar, ZEO Bhaddu, AEE PWD, PHE and other tehsil and block level officers were present on the occasion.
