KATHUA, Feb 8: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperative, Finance and Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, on Friday said Government is endeavoring a lot to equip the farmers with latest farming techniques and inputs enabling them enhance their crop productivity and quality as well.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating one day Kissan Mela at Thadakalwal in Billawar which was organized by Sericulture Development Department, Kathua.
Dr Sharma inspected the stalls of Sericulture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives Department (ICDP) and asked the concerned to create massive awareness among the farmers about their programmes.
The Minister, while addressing the farmers, said that such events provide information to the farmers about the latest farming techniques. He appealed the farmers to optimally utilize the knowledge gained in this Mela and adopt highly profitable and feasible ventures like silkworm rearing and mulberry plantation.
Aman Ullah Sheikh, Project Officer, presented a brief account of the progress made in Sericulture sector in Kathua district.
Director, Sericulture Dhanbeer Singh also threw light on various schemes being implemented by the department.
