BILLAWAR, Jan 11: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, former Minister and general secretary Pradesh Congress Committee, today convened a monthly public meeting of Billawar block at village Dharalta of Billawar constituency.
A large number of people, including party workers, Panches and Sarpanches, local villagers and prominent citizen participated. All the participants, including locals of village Dharalta and adjoining area, voiced deep anguish against the State Government and local MLA for their alleged failure on all fronts.
While addressing the gathering, the Congress leader said that the BJP-PDP Government has utterly proved failure on all fronts, including governance and deliverance. He expressed serious concern over the betrayal of BJP with people of Jammu and its compromise on equal share in development and employment.
Dr Sharma said that the public of Billawar constituency as well as the Jammu was accusing present dispensation, both in State and the Centre level, for adopting anti-people, anti-former, anti-youth and anti-poor policies since their formation and the public of the entire area was suffering due to lack of basic day-to-day amenities like lack of un-interrupted power supply , portable water, non-availability essential commodities like ration, sugar and medical facilities and steep rise in prices of the daily consumable commodities.
He also accused the BJP of surrendering interests of the Jammuites for the sake of power and deceiving the people who had voted heavily in favor of the party during the last Assembly and Parliament elections. “The failure of the Government exposed the real face of BJP and its leadership before the public of the region,” he said.
Dr Sharma strongly criticized the new employment policy formulated by the present BJP-PDP Government in shape of SRO-202, which is highly discriminatory, against the principles of natural justice and against High Court’s judgment of “Equal Pay for Equal Work”. “The unemployed youths are already suffering a lot due to the militancy and disturbance in the State for more than two decades and the coalition regime sprinkle salt on their wounds thus leading to frustration and depression among the educated unemployed youth,” he said
Others, who spoke on the occasion, include Sarpanch Mukesh Kumar, Budhi Singh, Hans Raj Sharma, Chairman Pallan Panchyat and some prominent leaders.
