JAMMU, July 7: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, former Minister and PCC general secretary, today strongly condemned the suo moto release of 344 stone pelters without scrutinizing the harshness of their offences.
In a statement, Dr Manohar Lal said that both BJP and PDP were hell bent to implement separatist agenda of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti compromising the national security. “Whether it is the issue of release of militants, stone pelters or evacuation of bunkers from the Srinagar CM is taking all the decisions on her own and the BJP, which has been sharing power in State and is in absolute majority at Center, seems acting as a mute spectator on these issues,” he alleged.
The Congress leader feared that release of stone pelters, who were arrested after hectic efforts by security forces, would again deteriorate situation in Kashmir Valley. “There is already a steep rise in the militant activities during the past some time and the BJP- PDP Government has no intelligence inputs as well as no control on militant activities,” he added.
Manohar Lal Sharma also asked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clear his stand on Pakistan sponsored proxy war against India through acts of terrorism. “Mr Modi used to target UPA Government for not taking any action against militants and had promised a befitting reply but after becoming Prime Minister, he has done nothing on ground except write love letters to Nawaz Sharief and begging before world powers,” he alleged and lamented that because of weak policies of BJP Government, Indian soldiers were sacrificing their precious lives on front against Pakistan.
The Congress leader said that his party would continue to raise voice against anti-national policies and decisions of the ruling BJP and will not allow any compromise on national security.
